SpeedFloor expanded its U.S. truck-loading automation push this week with a North American distribution rollout and a planned installation at Affinity Truck Center in Fresno, California, underscoring demand for systems that cut dock labor fast. Lotte Mart’s Busan CFC Pushes Grocery Automation Into Autonomous Piece-Picking

Lotte Mart’s Zeta Smart Center Busan is the next step after the broader goods-handling systems seen last week: it has turned Ocado’s Smart Platform into a commercial grocery CFC that automates receiving, storage, item-level picking, packing, shipping, and delivery-route optimization in one stack. The key development is direct AI piece-picking, with robots locating ordered items and a robotic arm picking products one by one, extending automation from orchestration into autonomous order assembly.

Busan is built for real throughput, not a demo. The site spans about 40,000 square meters, handles up to 35,000 SKUs, supports freezer operations at -25°C, and is designed for dawn delivery before 7 a.m. Capacity exceeds 30,000 orders per day. That makes it a meaningful proof point in high-mix, labor-intensive, temperature-controlled grocery, where manual picking has been hardest to displace.

Strategically, the signal is repeatability. Busan is the first node in a six-CFC South Korea rollout, with a second smart center already under construction in Goyang. For operators, the feasible boundary for replacing manual grocery picking is expanding beyond the orchestration layer now into autonomous piece-picking.
