Deepfake Verification, AI Agents on the Intranet, and AI Risk Triage
The gist
This week, Corporate Communications shifts from watching conversations to verifying reality, delegating routine intranet work, and triaging reputation risk in real time.
This week’s developments
Real-Time Trust Verification Joins Crisis-Response Execution
On Nov. 2, Microsoft said Teams will support certified third-party deepfake detectors that scan meeting audio and video for voice clones, face swaps, and lip-sync manipulation, returning a confidence score, severity level, and malicious-intent flag. Reality Defender also updated RealMeeting to classify participants as Trust, Suspicious, or Manipulated within 4–6 seconds, while Zoom said it is developing detection for synthetic faces and voices. The immediate use case is clear: stop fraudulent executive instructions and impersonation before they are accepted in a live meeting.
That capability arrives as crisis execution remains uneven. The 2026 BCI Emergency and Crisis Communications Report found 86.8% of organizations have formal crisis plans, but only 76.2% can activate and escalate to top management within 30 minutes, and only 70.5% consistently reach required responders. For Corporate Communications teams, the job is no longer just writing the plan; it is proving the plan works under pressure. Expect more scrutiny on escalation paths, verified-message workflows, and who has authority to confirm what is real when a meeting itself may be compromised.

Interact Opens the Intranet to AI Agents
On Oct. 20, 2026, Interact launched Interact MCP, a permission-aware Model Context Protocol server that lets approved assistants including Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Gemini Enterprise search and act across roughly 700 capabilities in 26 intranet areas. Under each employee’s SSO permissions, those assistants can do more than surface policy or HR content: they can draft or edit pages and communications, manage events and recognition, generate analytics, and trigger workflows in Workday, SAP, and ServiceNow, with admin controls and auditability through Agent Insights.
That pushes the intranet one step beyond the governed publishing and workflow controls seen in recent weeks. The question is no longer only whether AI answers are company-approved; it is whether communicators can control machine-mediated work inside the systems employees already use. Content now has to be structured, current, and permission-aware enough to support retrieval, summarization, and safe action.
For Corporate Communications teams, the work shifts further toward designing approval paths, metadata, and escalation rules with HR, IT, and system owners. Practitioners will be judged less on publishing volume and more on making messages operationally usable by AI without sacrificing accuracy, trust, or auditability.
How should we redesign intranet governance for AI agents?
If you're an individual contributor
- AI can now edit intranet content, not just find it.
- Your edge shifts to structuring content, checking outputs, and spotting permission or accuracy gaps before AI acts on them.

If you manage a team
- Your team must design for AI use, not just human publishing.
- Coach people on metadata, approvals, and exception handling so messages stay usable by AI without losing control.
If you lead the organization
- The intranet is becoming an AI-operated work layer, not a content site.
- Rebuild operating models with HR, IT, and system owners around governance, auditability, and AI-ready content standards.

Reputation Monitoring Shifts Into AI Risk Triage
On October 27, 2026, Meltwater launched an AI-driven Reputation Intelligence suite that moves corporate communications from monitoring mentions to classifying and prioritizing risk. The module adds a Reputation Taxonomy to sort mentions into risk categories, a Reputation Risk Score that weighs tone, source credibility, reach, and spread speed, and a dashboard showing the channels and amplifiers driving a threat. It also includes GenAI-specific controls such as a Lens Accuracy Checker to flag inaccurate or contradictory brand claims in AI answers.
Four days later, on October 31, Esha Media Research signed a one-year development agreement with LivingAI Solution LLP to build an AI-native reputation command center, priced at ₹1.26 crore per phase, covering monitoring, sentiment, crisis alerts, and executive reputation tracking. Together, the moves show reputation management becoming an AI-assisted command center rather than a passive listening stack.
For communications teams, the job is shifting from compiling reports to interpreting machine-ranked threats and deciding how fast to escalate. The advantage will go to practitioners who can translate risk scores into action, align executives quickly, and manage reputation across both media and AI-generated answers.
How should we operationalize AI-ranked risk across our team?
