Governed Agent Workflows Replace Post-Run Exception Handling
Ireland’s 2026 Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Bill and new AI Office, plus Australia’s tighter AI governance expectations, point to a faster shift toward supervised operational AI. Ireland is raising enforcement with unannounced inspections, remote audits, access to technical documentation, datasets, and source code, and prompt reporting of serious incidents. Australia is pushing testing, meaningful human oversight, transparency, and a December 2026 disclosure requirement for automated decisions that significantly affect rights or interests.
Vendors are moving in the same direction. AXA and Shufti are packaging identity verification, KYC, KYB, AML screening, fraud detection, and transaction monitoring into one workflow with audit-ready evidence and role-gated investigations. Automation Anywhere’s new agentic procure-to-pay suite, along with other pre-execution controls, shows the same pattern: agents are being stopped, checked, and logged before they act.
For operations teams, the job is shifting from cleaning up failures to designing control points into the workflow itself. The people who add the most value will be the ones who can run automated processes that are efficient, explainable, and ready for audit from day one.

Real-Time Process Intelligence Is Becoming the Control Tower Model
Pacific International Lines has expanded its global Process Intelligence Centre of Excellence across 90 countries, extending a real-time digital twin of operations built with Celonis and WNS. The rollout spans shipping workflows, customer-facing operations, and back-office processes, with trade operations singled out for standardisation. PIL says the goal is to move from periodic reporting to continuous visibility through Track & Trace reporting, dashboards, and configurable alerts.
The initiative is designed to surface inefficiencies faster, improve route and traffic optimisation, and create a foundation for automation, but PIL did not publish performance targets. That matters because the operating model is shifting from retrospective review to live exception management: teams are expected to see problems as they emerge, not after the fact.
For operations professionals, the takeaway is practical. Real-time process intelligence is becoming a baseline capability, not a niche upgrade. Teams that can combine event data, digital twins, and AI-assisted simulation will be better positioned to spot bottlenecks, manage exceptions, and test process changes before they hit the physical operation.

OT Recovery Standardizes Around Versioned Control and Cross-Vendor Workflows
Copia this week extended its OT resilience platform to Omron Sysmac Studio projects for NJ- and NX-series controllers, adding automated backup, version control, and restoration to a verified last-known version for Sysmac Studio V1.26 through V1.64. The support is narrow but operationally important: it covers Sysmac Studio project artifacts such as.smc2,.csm,.csm2, and.slr, not Omron OT assets broadly.
That specificity shows Copia is pushing the same multi-vendor recovery workflow it already uses across Rockwell and Siemens into another control environment instead of building a one-off Omron process. In parallel, Cognizant pointed to embedded AI agents to scale delivery, while another agentic AI capability aimed at unified fault and change management across operational workflows.
For practitioners, the shift is clear: recovery, version control, and fault handling are becoming standardized control-plane functions, not ad hoc engineering tasks. Teams that still manage controller projects manually will feel the gap first in recovery speed, auditability, and change discipline.
