Nissan, Project44, and GoComet all pushed supply chain automation deeper into live operations this week, showing control towers evolving from visibility tools into execution systems. Nissan said AI-driven workflows now handle integration-test execution, exploratory data analysis, and alert-response playbooks across inventory control, production, purchasing, logistics, legal, and corporate communications, with 75% lower test execution time, 3–5x faster analysis, and roughly 80% shorter PoC time. It also reported about 90% lower RAG evaluation time and cost, plus 17% fewer physical bolt-joint tests, and expects to halve total development test time for future European vehicles.
Project44 said its AI-native LSP44 platform is targeting carrier procurement, shipment visibility, and exception resolution, with reported gains of 18% lower procurement costs, 60%+ fewer “where is my shipment” calls, and 80%+ auto-resolution of exceptions. GoComet said leading logistics providers are already using its visibility and operations platform, while FourKites’ move to leader status in 2026 signals maturing control-tower capabilities. For supply chain teams, the job is shifting from chasing status to supervising exceptions, tuning workflows, and coordinating decisions across systems, carriers, warehouses, and functions.

Compliance Moves Into the Operating Model
U.S., China, and India policy changes are pushing compliance out of the legal back office and into day-to-day logistics execution. BIS will move certain silencers, mufflers, and sound suppressors from the State Department’s U.S. Munitions List to the EAR on Nov. 20, 2026, and its new Affiliates Rule will extend Entity List-style restrictions to foreign entities owned 50% or more by sanctioned parties. China is also tightening dual-use exports of drone-related items to the U.S. through case-by-case review with no license facilitation for covered goods.
On the customs side, India’s Budget 2026–27 points to faster, more automated clearance: trusted-importer treatment, immediate release for low-risk imports with no compliance requirement, streamlined courier exports, and a consolidated customs notification framework. Bangladesh remains more volatile, leaning on Regulatory Duties, Supplementary Duties, minimum customs values, and AIT that raise cost uncertainty.
For supply chain and trade teams, the practical implication is clear: ownership screening, product classification, and routing decisions now need to be tighter and faster.
