Digital Product Passports Become an MRV Workflow, Not a Compliance Side Project

Inspectorio and Eon have linked serialized Digital Product Passports so brands can push product identity, materials, supplier genealogy, certifications, facilities, lifecycle events, compliance status, and sustainability records from Inspectorio into Eon’s digital identity cloud without manual re-entry. The operational shift is simple but important: product and supply-chain records already captured upstream can now flow directly into passport workflows instead of being rebuilt by hand.

That matters because CBAM support is moving toward measurement, reporting, and verification readiness, not customs relief. India’s Commerce Ministry says it is building MRV capacity and offering financial assistance and handholding for smaller exporters, while the European Parliament backed a temporary decarbonisation fund for CBAM-exposed producers. The message for supply chain teams is clear: carbon compliance is becoming a data-quality problem inside day-to-day documentation, not a separate sustainability exercise.
